Back to Our Team

I am a family lawyer and mediator committed to tailoring my approach on each file to best serve my clients. Family matters are often complex with a multitude of emotional, social and financial issues to be resolved. As your lawyer, I will provide you with sound legal advice and advocate for you during negotiations and, where necessary, in litigation or private and confidential arbitration. As your mediator, I work with your lawyers, and/or you, to create a process plan and efficiently facilitate settlement where possible. I also serve as Children’s Counsel in high conflict family matters and Child Welfare matters. My experience as a litigator at both the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, along with my Mediation training and experience allow me to be a compassionate and strong advocate for my clients.

Before becoming a family lawyer, I pursued a double major in English and Political Science and obtained my Honours Degree with Distinction from the University of Toronto. After completing a Certificate in Legal Administration from Humber College, I attended Osgoode Hall Law School. While at law school, I served as the Academic Advisor for Osgoode Hall’s Black Law Students Association for two years and I was the recipient of the Jack A. Seed, Q.C. Award for outstanding leadership and the Legal and Literary Society Award for outstanding contribution to student activities. I also volunteered with Student Legal Assistance and within the greater Toronto area where I gained invaluable experience about working with vulnerable populations, including individuals facing mental health challenges and socio-economic disadvantages. My passion for legal education and my commitment to serving my community continue serve me well as a litigator and mediator.

I am a member of both the Alberta and the Ontario Bar. Throughout my years of practice, I have continued to complete training in litigation, property and debt division, working with diverse demographics, serving as Children’s Counsel, mediation, working with high-conflict families, helping families that are tackling mental health and addiction issues and understanding the impact of trauma on children’s developing brains. While these skills benefit both my litigation and mediation clients, when necessary, I work with you in employing the service of psychological or financial experts who bring added value to the completion of your matter.

Outside of the office, I volunteer on several Canadian Bar Association committees including serving as the past co-chair of both the Law Day Committee and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee and currently serving as secretary of the Alternative Dispute Resolution committee. I am also a volunteer lawyer with Calgary Legal Guidance and a member volunteer with the Association of Women Lawyers. Originally from the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, I celebrate my heritage by volunteering with various Calgary Caribbean Associations and participating in Caribbean carnivals all over the world each year.

I would be happy to speak with you today about how I can be of assistance as your lawyer or your family law mediator.
