Susannah was born in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago and grew up in Toronto, Ontario where she completed her B.A. Hons. (with distinction) at the University of Toronto. After university Susannah worked for a national firm in Toronto and completed a college certificate before obtaining her J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. While at law school, she received the Jack A. Seed, Q.C. Award for outstanding leadership and the Legal and Literary Society Student Honour Award for her contribution to student activities at the law school. Just after graduation, Susannah moved to Calgary and was called to the Ontario Bar in September 2014 and the Alberta Bar in October 2014.

Susannah believes that practicing law is a privileged path to serving one’s community. She knows that her clients are often experiencing one of the most difficult periods in their lives. In her practice she strives to combine sound legal advice with encouragement and attention to the emotional and psychological well-being of her clients and all those affected by the breakdown of a family relationship.

Children are at the forefront of Susannah’s growing practice. While representing parents in custody and access disputes and non-parents (such as grandparents) on guardianship matters, Susannah keeps the best interests of the children in mind. She is particularly interested in representing children both in private parenting matters and in Child Welfare matters. Susannah recognizes that in addition to navigating the legal system, often for the first time, many families are also facing unique challenges ranging from abuse and addictions to restructuring businesses and dividing property.

Susannah’s passion for access to justice drives her volunteer activities with the Alberta Women Lawyers, the Canadian Bar Association and Calgary Legal Guidance. Proud of her Caribbean-Canadian heritage Susannah currently serves on the executive team of a local Caribbean community association and participates in full costume in Caribbean parades several times a year. In her spare time Susannah remains a student of the Spanish language, kickboxing and occasionally dabbles in amateur graphics. She is also an avid consumer of podcasts, audio books and international cuisine. Susannah achieved her goal of visiting every continent (except Antarctica) five years ago and is currently working on getting to every capital city in the world.
